Unitary LSP Network Meeting

This event was successfully held with representatives from Southampton, Portsmouth, Milton Keynes, Wokingham, Slough, Bracknell Forest, Royal Borough Windsor and Maidenhead and West Berkshire.
The expectations government has on how local authorities will change the way they deliver services in future, and how local authorities and their partners will be held to account through Local Area Agreements (LAA) and the Comprehensive Area Assessments (CAA)
From the previous network meeting on the 8th September member engagement was identified at a common issue for network members and they are now looking for support in developing arguments for strengthening partnership arrangements that members find compelling
Objectives:
Network members are able to make a compelling argument to members that CAA will require local authorities to demonstrate that partnership arrangements are effective in their area.
Make practitioners aware what tools are available that help network members support their colleagues in making this argument
The executive in every authority understands the implications of CAA

The 12 members of the unitary practitioners network in the south east

This session will try to Identify why it is important to engage members, consider their priorities and their level of awareness of the significance of partnership working. It will be an opportunity to highlight issues facing network members in this field

13:30: What works?
Identifying initiatives and good practice (within the unitaries and elsewhere) that have resulted in more positive involvement of councillors (whether portfolio holders or “backbenchers”) in the emerging area agenda (LSPs, LAAs, & CAA).
14.30: Towards an Action Plan
This final session will pull together the various strands of discussion into a checklist for use by participants.
