£10m boost for South East councils to help communities through the credit crunch
25.02.2009
The government has announced that Councils in the South East are to receive a total of more than £10 million in contingency payments, to be used as they see fit to help meet local needs and priorities in the face of the recession.
Local Government Minister John Healey has confirmed that councils in the South East will receive their share of £100 million being made available to local authorities in England within the next few days.
This extra funding comes from the Local Authority Business Growth Incentives Scheme (LABGI) scheme that has been in operation since 2006, and rewards councils for successfully promoting economic growth in their area.
