Isobel has been a councillor in a large South East unitary authority for 14 years, serving as Council Leader for seven of those years (up to May 2009). During that time she was the Chair of the Local Strategic Partnership, and of its Executive Board once that was set up.

She was the Cabinet member with responsibility for working with partners to draw up a Sustainable Community Strategy, following a major visioning summit. She was also the member lead on the Strategy’s Review and on the development of the Local Area Agreement.  Cllr McCall is also an IDEA Lead Member peer and advises councillors around the country.
