Cultural Champions Project
Sponsored by the CLG, the project is a three month pilot study aimed at building the advocacy skills of culture-sector representatives working with local authorities and LSPs in the Thames Valley. Cultural agencies in the south east, working together under the banner of the Cultural Regional Improvement Group (CRIG), are leading the work which is being delivered by the Progress through Partnership programme.
It is increasingly recognised that culture plays an important role in improving local quality of life and has a huge impact on the social, economic and environmental well-being of communities. Despite this recognition, the potential for culture and sport to deliver local priorities remains largely untapped.
The pilot study will seek to develop local cultural champions in the Thames Valley so that they can provide leadership to influence debate and strategic planning at LSP level and raise the profile and involvement of sport and culture in the delivery of local priorities.
